Learning Support Services

Since 2016, Saint Andrew Catholic School has offered a comprehensive Learning Support Program for grades five through eight. The program demonstrates the school's commitment to meeting diverse learning needs while maintaining high academic standards.

Learning Support helps students who require instructional modifications and accommodations. Each student receives an academic plan tailored to their specific learning profile. These plans ensure students get the support they need to access the curriculum and achieve academic success.

The Learning Support Teacher works closely with students by reinforcing instruction in Language Arts and Math, except for Honors Math. The teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to help ensure all faculty understand and implement each student’s approved modifications and accommodations. Regular communication with parents is essential and occurs after Learning Support Team meetings to review progress and update each student’s academic plan as needed.

Students enrolled in the program receive instruction in small groups within the classroom. These sessions are scheduled during designated Spanish classes and, when needed, during Technology classes at specific times throughout the week. Finally, push-in support may occur when the Learning Support Teacher collaborates with math teachers (excluding Honors Math) to provide in-class assistance aligned with instructional goals.

A key feature of the Learning Support Program is the provision of a quiet, structured environment for assessments. When appropriate, students may complete assessments in a calm setting. They have access to support from the Learning Support Teacher. Through these services and collaboration, Saint Andrew Catholic School ensures each student’s academic needs are met with care, consistency, and excellence.
