Saint Andrew Catholic School provides a strong education through a rigorous curriculum aligned with Pa. and Archdiocesan standards. Students engage in hands-on learning that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Curriculum Guidelines & Highlights
The curricula followed by the students in the Elementary Schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are developed and/or approved by the Secretary of Catholic Elementary Education. This is coordinated through the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and related staffed development for Pre-K through 8th Grade.
The core subjects for elementary students include: Religion, English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Sixth Grade
Sixth grade marks a smooth transition to the Upper School and the beginning of student leadership. Students prepare for Confirmation by researching Saints and creating projects about their lives.
Academically, students broader their understanding of the world through rich reading selections (novels, non-fiction, poetry, mythology) and the continued development of writing skills.
Eighth grade celebrates students' accomplishments and prepares them for high school. The curriculum is rigorous, and students take part in memorable school traditions, including the annual Egg Drop Challenge. They also lead major events, including the Living Nativity and a full spring theater production.
The year culminates with a class trip, a graduation dance, and a class picnic marking the end of their Saint Andrew journey.
